U.S. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE HONORS HERSETH SANDLIN WITH “SPIRIT OF ENTERPRISE” AWARD Recognizes Herseth Sandlin as “Pro-Growth Lawmaker” April 25, 2007, Washington, D.C. – The United States Chamber of Commerce has honored U.S. Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin with the “Spirit of Enterprise” award in recognition of her strong support of business and pro-growth legislation during the 109th Congress. Herseth Sandlin was one of only 24 Democrats in the House of Representatives to earn this distinction. “Rep. Herseth Sandlin proved to be a valuable ally to the business community last year, supporting measures to stimulate job creation and spur economic growth,” said Tom Donohue, U.S. Chamber president and CEO. “The business community appreciates Stephanie’s dedication to a pro-growth agenda and we are proud to present her with this award.” Herseth Sandlin said, “The future of rural America depends on creating jobs and encouraging economic development. I’m committed to supporting pro-business policies that reward entrepreneurship and provide critical support and incentives – particularly for small businesses in communities of all sizes across South Dakota.” The U.S. Chamber is the world’s largest business federation, representing more than 3 million businesses of every size, sector and region. In South Dakota, there are 17 community Chamber members and 900 small business Chamber members located throughout the state. # # # Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth Sandlin serves South Dakota in the U.S. House of Representatives. She is a member of the Blue Dog Coalition, a group of moderate Democrats committed to fiscal discipline and strong national security, and is co-chair of the Rural Working Group, which is dedicated to raising the profile of issues important to rural America. She also serves on three committees vital to South Dakota’s interests: Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs and Resources. In the 110th Congress, Herseth Sandlin was appointed to serve on the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming. |
